Piggy-back

My toddler’s feet are size seven.
So tiny, plump, and smooth.
When I lift him up
From the wet sandbox,
Muddy wood chips
Sprinkle the grass
As I swing him on my back.
Small fingers sift my hair
Rather than hold onto
My shoulders for
Balance.

He slips and
Starts to fall.
But I always catch him.

Back on top and
Balance
Made much stronger,
The green-vined exit,
Doesn’t seem much
Farther.

Pertuccio Lives

Petruccio Lives

Your heart is as cold as Hitler’s,
But your tongue speaks of Jesus.
You seek power and dominion,
But you act meek and humble.
You desire the life of a Playboy,
So you live that life on-line
In the quiet corner of darkness
When your loyal wife sleeps in
Ignorance.

They believe you because you are
Un-emotional,
Shed no tears,
Remain detached,
And because your brain
Appears clear and logical.

Pretending is your game,
But Liar is your name.
You are the master of confusion –
Deceit.

Petruccio did not tame a Shrew,
But took her life’s spice
After beating and forcing her
To admit that the Sun did not shine.
Could he really force her to believe
His words?

You say that the Sun is the Moon,
And the Moon is the Sun –
The world is still flat because
Muscles in the arms are acknowledged more
Than strength found inside –
And soft skin must equal a soft brain.

Forget that the Sun does not rise.
Decide that the world is not round.
What if your Katrina
Is too smart to argue
Or play your game?

A childhood dream

My Monster

The night was suspended by fire.
The sounds of Chaos were drowned
By crackling, towering flames.
But it wasn’t the smoke that took away
My breath. It was the sight of Godzilla
Stepping on the house at the end of
My street.

Daddy packed the camouflaged truck
With camping gear and screamed,
“Let’s head for the hills!”
But mom was in the house,
Watching TV and refused to move.

DUMB BOYS
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!
Dumb, dumb, dumb!
Stupid, Stupid, STUPID!

DUMB GIRLS
Bicker, bicker, bicker,
Whine, whine, whine
Blah, blah, blah!

Deception

Deception

The withering rose in the heat’s new day,

Reaches and Stretches for moisture’s relief.

Below, an enemy meets roots from clay,

Dry suffocation, Disappointment’s grief.

A covenant, t’wixt two, before was made,

Disguising Clay’s true nature in soil.

The Rose sought nourishment for love unstayed,

Yet, seemed wholesome and true the dirt was spoiled.

He took her, and he kept true to his stain.

She trusted that he would not turn her fears.

Exhausted and confused, she will remain,

The clay’s loud laughter echoes in her tears

Until all sustenance soon is withdrawn

Betrayal! And Anguish! There is no dawn.
